Champagne Vadin-Plateau
Champagne, France

In 1765, in the village of Cumières, Joseph Plateau was born. He would become the first generation of his family to acquire vines. In spite of laborious work due to fragmented plots, Joseph made his way into the wine trade and founded the "Plateau House". Champagne Vadin-Plateau is a family house located in the heart of the Great Valley of the Marne, in the village of Cumières, which is close to Epernay considered to be the "capital" of Champagne. Since 1785, the culture of wine and his passion have been passed on and continue today through Yann Vadin (ninth generation).

The vineyard now reaches seven hectares in seven villages, all chosen by the family winemakers for their expression: Aÿ, Pourcy, Hautvillers, Cumières, Damery, Venteuil, Château-Thierry.

Unlike the majority of his neighbors in Champagne, Yann advocates the techniques of yesteryear. Just as his great-grandparents did, tillage was reintroduced. Reasoned viticulture (little intervention) results in a non-systematic use of treatments: these are applied only when it is necessary and according to the weather. Since 2011, the vat room has been enriched with ovoid clay vats creating new possibilities in the vinification process: aging bringing forth minerality, accentuating the terroir, and concentrating the aromas.

These numerous facilities and the know-how that goes with them, allows the House to express its terroir through the vinification of each of their unique vintages.
