Isastegi Sagardotegia
Basque Country, Spain

Traditionally, this Basque family produced artisanal natural cider for the simple pleasure of sharing it with family and friends. In 1983, they decided to expand their production to meet the growing demand for this type of product which had gained popularity in Spain. Gradually, the modest establishment acquired its notoriety and became a famous cider house of the region. Aitor Izaguirre is master of production and supervises the various stages, from the growing of the apples to the making of the cider.

The cider house is located at the foot of Mount Intxurre, near Tolosa, a region known for apple growing in the Basque Country where cider making is achieved with a strong community spirit that is a source of pride for all involved. Not only do you find native apples grown by Isategi, but also a handful of neighbors who are equally passionate about organic farming.
