Vino Lauria
Sicily, Italy

Alcamo is a very old city founded in 828 by the Muslim commander Al-Kamuk (hence the name). Having survived several reigns of power, Alcamo is located in what is now known as northwestern Sicily in Italy, about 50 km from Palermo.

After obtaining his oenology diploma in 2003 and several years of experience in Sicilian vineyards, Vito Lauria took over the family estate in Alcamo in 2005. Vito, determined to revitalize the family winery, toiled for five years before he finally produced his first vintage in 2010.

His objective is to select and transform the best grapes in order to obtain wines that are both traditional and innovative. Working in contract farming, he rents his land while remaining in control of the work in the vineyard which is certified organic. Without a doubt, he prioritizes the native grape varieties of his region. He cultivates Grillo, Catarratto, Fountain Bianche and Zibibbo for white wines and Nero d'Avola, Perricone and Frappato for reds. Red grape varietals are planted on clay soils and whites on calcareous soils.

Vito is a master of organic agriculture and stands out from the producers of his region by his approach that allows him to deliver wines both rich and balanced. These wines with Sicilian characteristics are healthy with a minimum of intervention in the cellar. They are all certified organic and some are vinified naturally.
