CASCINA DELLE ROSE
Piedmont, Italy

Cascina delle Rose, a property lined with roses, is located in the Rio Sordo Valley in Barbaresco. Family business since 1948, the first labeled bottle was only released in 1992. The 3.5 hectares of vines are managed by Giovanna Rizzoli, Italo Sobrino and their sons Riccardo and Davide. Their production is focused mainly on Barbaresco, and their vines grow in the vineyards with steep hills, clay soils (Rio Sordo) and limestone (Tre Setelle). Among the varietals grown, there is Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. Davide is the main wine-maker who lets his sensitivity guide him in the process that changes from one vintage to the next.

As the domaine is certified organic, in the vineyard, the use of copper and sulfur products are kept at a minimum and careful manual harvesting is performed. In the cellar, de-stemming takes place gently to keep the entire fruit intact and the fermentation is completed with natural yeasts. In order to maintain the structure and integrity of the wines, no filtration or clarification is carried out.

The wines are defined by their elegance, grace and subtlety. Cascina Delle Rose is a rising star in the region and perhaps produces one of the most delicate wines in the area.
