Domaine de la Marinière
Loire, France

The land for the estate was first bought in 1965 by the Desbourdes family and required many hours of work to make it habitable. Renaud Desbourdes took over the estate of his parents in 1999. At first he had a farm with animals and fields of grain, but quickly decided to devote himself entirely to his passion; the vine and wine.

The vineyard includes 14ha of Cabernet Franc and 0.75ha of Chenin Blanc under the appellation of Chinon. The different types of soils found are grit and gravel at the foot of the slopes and limestone rock and flint clay on the slopes.

Descendant of a family of peasants, he is deeply attached to the notion of respect for nature and men. Agriculture is in the process of conversion for Ecocert organic certification therefore no chemical fertilizers, or pesticides are used on the vines. In the cellar, the same logic follows with minimal intervention so that the wines best reflect the authenticity of the terroirs.

The future of the estate is now ensured by Boris, Renaud’s son, who being part of the newer generation has the desire to combine both tradition and modernization.
