Didier Grappe
Jura, France

After studying at the Lycée Vinicole de Beaune, Didier Grappe became aware of natural and sustainable viticulture.
Located in the small wine village of Saint-Lothain in the heart of the Jura, Didier operates a small estate of 3.8 hectares (certified Ecocert in 2007). The vineyard located on the appellation of Côtes du Jura, is composed of half a hectare of red grape varieties (pinot noir, trousseau, poulsard) and 3.3 hectares of white grape varieties (Savagnin and Chardonnay).

The “Champs Rouge” (red fields) plot takes its name from its soil composed of red and gray marl. The best terroir of the village is called “En Novelin” and faces south, with soil composed of gray marl where the grape variety Chardonnay gives its best expression.

Finally, the “Longefin” plot faces north and despite this orientation, produces grapes with superb maturity.
Didier Grappe practises winemaking with the least amount of intervention possible to produce wines that express the quintessence of their terroir.
